Queen's Award for Exports

Fertilizer supplier wins Queen's Award for Enterpise.

A leading supplier of high quality speciality fertilisers to the commercial grower has been awarded a Queen's Award for Enterprise. 

Sussex-based Solufeed has been awarded the highly prestigious accolade for its outstanding achievement in the category of International Trade.

Solufeed was selected for an award based on its success in achieving substantial growth in overseas earnings as well as 'outstanding' levels of commercial success.  Trading since 1998, the company manufactures soluble powder, liquid and foliar fertilisers, many of which are specifically developed for overseas markets including, for example, a bespoke liquid fertiliser for cocoa growers in West Africa.  Exporting more than 70 per cent of its output, Solufeed's exports currently reach 40 countries worldwide.

The Queen's Awards for Enterprise are considered the most prestigious corporate awards any business can win.  Announced last month - to coincide with the Queen's birthday - they are made on the advice of the Prime Minister, who is assisted by an advisory committee that includes representatives of government, industry and commerce, and the trade unions.

Representatives from the company will attend a reception at Buckingham Palace during the summer.  The award will be formally presented by Mrs Susan Pyper, the Lord Lieutenant of West Sussex, on behalf of the Queen in due course.

The award consists of a Grant of Appointment and a presentational item bearing the emblem and is valid for five years.
