Outstanding Result for Solufeed Water Soluble Fertilizer in Ireland
PRESS RELEASE Outstanding result for Solufeed water soluble fertilizers on Irish nursery.
A leading supplier of high quality speciality water
soluble fertilizers to the commercial grower has been
hailed as a 'life saver' by a nurseryman in Ireland.
Bernard Seal, Manager from O'Connor Nurseries in Corey, County
Wexford has reported excellent results following the application of
a bespoke
fertilizer provided by UK-based Solufeed.
Two years ago Bernard was growing increasingly concerned with
the nutrients recipes they had previously been recommended and -
through Solufeed's agent in the area - decided to explore remedying
the situation.
The original feeds recommended to the nursery were too strong
and although Solufeed's standard water soluble
fertilizers showed initial improvement, research by its team of
experts showed that the irrigation water pH was too low.
Water analysis showed that the area had a very pure borehole which
also caught a large amount of rainwater. Solufeed's solution
was to take a sample of the rain water into the Solufeed lab and
build a modified nutrients using selected raw materials that
deliberately raised the pH to the desired level of 6.5. Its
success has since led to the introduction of two new feeds for
different crops with a third under development for Poinsettias.
The results have included :
- Better flowers
- Attractive green foliage
- Improved growth habit
- Less disease
- Faster growth
The nursery includes a large authentic 1950s glasshouse used
mainly for box and pot-bedding production. In recent years,
the owner - Jim O'Connor - invested in a new state-of-the-art Dutch
glasshouse with mobile ebb-and-flood growing tables and a packing
area.
Bernard Seal, Manager of O'Connor Nurseries said : "The new
feeds have helped the nursery to realize its full potential and we
are reliably producing fabulous first-quality plants with very
little wastage."
Dick Holden, Managing Director of Solufeed Ltd said : "We are
delighted with the results at O'Connor Nurseries; Ireland can
be particularly challenging because the water varies such a lot
from place to place. Some nurseries have high pH water and require
our acidic Solufeed Superior water
soluble fertilizers whilst others have such pure water they
need a fertiliser which works to raise the pH."
Solufeed has developed strong links with growers in the Republic
of Ireland and Northern Ireland complemented by a well established
distribution network, Deker Horticultural Supplies Ltd, based in
centrally in Co. Meath. As part of the support offered to its
distributors, Solufeed regularly visits their customers resulting
in such study trips.
